Q- Do you provide investment advice?
A- No, neither DAI nor John Bly provide investment advice to either the buying customer nor financial advisors. DAI nor John Bly are offering for sale or recommending or referring any financial product.

Q- Why do I have to inform my IFA?
A- Because we do not know your personal circumstances and buying decorative art and antiques for investment purposes might not be best suited to your financial circumstances. Only your IFA can be sure that making an investment in decorative art and antiques is both affordable and congruent with your investment portfolio strategy.

Q- Why has DAI partnered with John Bly Antiques?
A- Because John Bly is one of the worlds few true experts in his field and has a refreshing and exciting entrepreneurial flair about business within the world of antiques and decorative arts. He can still be seen on the BBC's prestigious prime time television program 'The Antiques Roadshow' and is still publicly promoting the best of this country's antique heritage. In short - he shares our passion for this exciting asset class.

Q- What does DAI do?
A- We introduce the services of John Bly to Independent Financial Advisors and Intermediaries for the sole purpose of providing them information about this class of asset. We are not promoting financial products or investment vehicles. Instead, we provide information and data to the IFA for their analysis and it is they who decide whether or not the asset class should be a considered inclusion to your investment portfolio. Any investment should be made with a medium term horizon (5years minimum, to 10 years ideal). When a customer decides that they would like to purchase high quality 'best-in-Class' antiques, they will do so directly through John Bly Antiques.

Q- What does the graph on correlation show?
A- Correlation as shown in this website refers to a specific calculation performed on two sets of data over a similar timescale - which is a value between -1 and +1, the correlation coefficient - and is just one calculation used to asses risk. It compares how these two separate data series change over time, relative to each other. If they are closely coupled - ie. one moves in one direction and the other moves with it, although not necessarily by the same percentage - it is said to have a high correlation and is a value of or close to +1. When one series moves in one direction and the other moves in the opposite direction, then it is negatively correlated and has a value at or close to -1. If a movement in one series of data has no predictive effect on the second series, then the correlation coefficient is at or close to zero.

Q- Does DAI charge a fee and how does this affect performance?
A- DAI's small operational fees and referral commissions paid to IFA's are included in the sale price of each individual item purchased from John Bly. Many of our items are sourced through private treaty or via existing relationships with old customers and/or industry contacts. Therefore, the prices are fair to all and often considerably less than that paid at auction after fees. Our prices therefore remain at or below retail prices whilst still offering good return on investment opportunity. In most cases, fee's are fully covered at the point of sale and will have minimum affect on potential capital growth.

Q- Is there any commitment or pressure to buy if I make contact?
A- Absolutely not. That is not the way we work. John Bly and son will be the only persons with whom you will discuss your needs. John works in a consultative fashion, and is very relaxed and informal. There will be no pressure from him or DAI.

Q- What confidentiality do I have?
A- Complete confidentiality. See our confidentiality statement on our website for further details about our web policy. Your details are not passed on to any 3rd party. Nor do we contact you directly other than to arrange an appointment with John Bly and ensure quality of service. We have nothing to sell or promote other than John Bly's services, to help you find the most suitable items for your personal requirements.

Q- How do I make contact with John Bly?
A- Simple. Just fill out our on line form and we will start proceedings. Or just give us a call on the number shown on the contact page. Nothing complicated, all we need is your name and telephone number (if you are interested in Decorative Arts and Antiques, but prefer to remain anonymous, then we can progress the enquiry through your IFA if you provide their details and a suitable reference so that your IFA can identify you when we call them). Remember, we fully respect your privacy and will NEVER pass your details on to ANY 3rd party.
